How did you get into yoga?
I started yoga in 2008 to help me recover from marathon running injuries. The physical benefits started immediately, but slowly I begin to realize there was something else and noticed shifts in my mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. In 2012, I lost my father to a violent homicide. Yoga became the life raft I held on to begin my healing journey, Meditation helped me process trauma, grief, loss and anxiety. Asana helped me find peace throughout discomfort. The loving community at IEY made me feel safe & supported to process it all on my mat. What do you love about yoga? I love the lessons I learn on my mat and how they can be transferred out into my world off the mat. I love the intensity and challenge that I find, while simultaneously experiencing peace, unity & connection with my breath. What is your yoga teaching style? I teach classes that are intended to be a healing experience for the body, mind and soul. My primary focus is on breath to bring about awareness and connection and my secondary focus is on asana to link up breath and movement. Favorite Quote: "Be kind whenever possible.
